When you can't even BRIBE people to come to club meetings!
Anyhow, taking advantage of the offer for a free beverage were the always reliable Fred and Ginnie Ungewitter, along with the almost-pleasant (he must have been tired) resident dan Dan Micsa, Bart Lipofsky, Attila Ondi, and yours truly. Then, we got a return visit from Mike Russell, who came back to learn and play, and a surprise return of our young protege', Donna Gamble who turned 14 in January.She managed to split a pair of (handicap) games with up and coming Attila and even convinced her brother to sit in and find out about our game.Then, just to top off the excitement, we managed to entice B&N visitor Marcia Dunn into hearing about our fascinating game and taking home a "Way to Go" booklet.Finally, a pleasant surprise to find out that Go's insidious appeal had gotten to Tim Trese, who had visited us in
the past, and not only learned the game on his own, but even went so far as to get his own equipment! With that kind of committment, I'm sure we'll see Tim in the future (unlike so many of you sticks-in-the-mud who are on this distribution only to receive my entertaining and informative notices, but have no intention of actually showing up and PLAYING!)
By the way, if you are receiving this and no longer want to be pestered with constant appeals to come to meetings, just a short reply with something subtle like "Take me off your )(*#@%^$^@! list!" or "I get enough spam, I don't need yours, too!" will do quite nicely.
On the other hand, if you are receiving this and DO NOT wish to be taken off the distribution, then WHY THE DICKENS AREN'T YOU COMING TO THE MEETINGS????
Finally, for those of you who didn't know, our friend Yuji Sano, Japanese 5 dan and all-around nice person, returned to his home but is coming back to Florida at the end of May.His status with our club and our sister club in Daytona is uncertain since he may be bringing his wife with him.Since she speaks no English, he is obligated to help her survive in our barbaric society and because she is not a Go player (which I don't understand at all!), it is uncertain whether he will be able to come back to our meetings. At any rate, Yuji, we just wanted to let you know that your absence is deeply felt and we are all anxious to have you back so one of us may finally have the honor of presenting you with your first loss in Florida!!!!
Next meeting (as if you didn't know) is the 3rd Saturday of the month (just like always) at Barnes & Noble (which is the same place most of you don't come to) at 2:00 p.m. (just as it has always been).Not that it makes any difference, but I have it on good authority that on that day, May 18th, our Barnes & Noble will be hosting a small celebration featuring the
Rockettes from New York City, all the contestants from the upcoming Miss America competition, and the Swedish Bikini Team.Just thought you might like to know.
