Well, as usual, most of you missed an outstanding session on Saturday. However, there were 10 of us there who had a marvelous time. Mr. Yuji Sano did, in fact, return from Japan a day early to take on Fred, Bart, and newcomer, Tom Gargaro in a simultaneous handicap match. And history was made as our own Dr. Barton Lipofsky delivered Yuji's first ever defeat in the state of Florida!!! Congratulations, Bart; condolences, Yuji.
Meanwhile the action was fast and furious as Eric and John played several matches while Attila and I labored through one. Then, players switched around and had a generally fine time.
Fred & Ginnie also delivered our magnificent SCAGC T-shirts! It's not too late to order yours and I'm sure you'll want one when you see us wearing them next time you ever get your lazy butts to a meeting!
I'm still getting a lot of positive reaction to playing down in Melbourne. However, I'm not getting much cooperation from the Melbourne B&N. The store manager has already told me that she isn't particularly happy with the idea and the Community Service Manager won't return my phone calls. I suspect that we'll just run informal games down there on 2nd and 4th Saturdays with whomever shows up. I'm moving on the weekend of the 15th, so I've got quite a bit to do before then and am not sure I can make it to a game next Saturday (June 8th), but let's go ahead and say that there will be a
get-together at 2:00 in Melbourne anyway.
Attila took some fine pictures which I was going to attach to this message, but I haven't received them yet, so I'll send them out under separate cover. Then, you folks who don't come very regularly (ahem!) can associate faces with the names you've been reading over the weeks.
