Well, sort of.
If you'll recall, last meeting notice, there was a list of names of folks who were supposed to attend. That list represented all the nice people who, over the weeks and months, had stopped by at our table and expressed an interest in our game, enough to leave me their email addresses. Then, for reasons unknown, THEY NEVER SHOWED UP AGAIN!
I was hoping that by seeing their names in print, they might just be induced to come again. Or at least contact me and let me know they were still alive.
And to that extent, it worked since Brian Blackwell came to the game (along with his brother John, even) and Caroline Draper emailed me and said she was reading stuff on Go and would really, really try to make it back. (Okay, Caroline, now you're on the spot).
Even so, with only minimal respondents to my urging and with NO Hungarians, we still had: Fred escaping the Daytona crazies; Mike Clark, our illustrious original president and co-founder, a-visiting from distant Pizzaburgh; the eminent Dr. Barton Lipofsky; our own Mad Romanian, Dan Micsa; the twins - Jeff Ehrlich and Yuyin Chen; and the aforementioned Brian Blackwell and his brother John. Then we were joined by young Mr. Sam Spoth who received a bit of instruction from Fred and promised to come back, since he lived just a stone's throw from B&N. And not to be accused of inaccurate reportage, I must concede that the lovely and graceful Mr. Stephen Schneider did show up (and maybe even played a game - I don't remember), but did not stay long enough to imprint on anyone's memory.
At any rate, we played a lot of Go, did some teaching, and had - as usual - a fine time.
Sorry the rest of you folks on the list (and others of you who were not on the list, but you know who you are) didn't come. But it's never too late and you can redeem yourselves by ALL coming to the next game (which I will not be attending, since I will be out of town in the frozen northlands). Wouldn't it be a great goof, to have FIFTY PEOPLE show up when I wasn't there!? In any case I will be warning... errr... I mean - NOTIFYING all of you just before we meet next, so stay tuned to this email station.
